    Jean Ribault, French Huguenot Explorer
The renowned French Navigator, Jean Ribault explored the Flordia, Georgia, and Carolina coastlines (1562-1565). Ribault was in search of colony locations for French Huguenot Christians fleeing brutal persecution.  These Huguenots (Sometimes called “Lutherans” by the Spanish) were being brutally murdered by the Catholic Church in France.
Jean Ribault’s epic journey for religious freedom took place 56 years before the Pilgrims landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts (1620).
